English Landscapes Group is a landscape design and installation company owned and managed by Jon Crouch with a crew of dedicated professionals.
Equally dedicated is Site Manager Peter Maurer who also serves as English Landscapes Group plant guru. Together they have a combined horticultural experience that exceeds 40 years.
Though the business is based on Vashon Island they are no strangers to regular commuting and work throughout the whole Puget Sound region with clients as far away as Orcas and Lopez Islands. The majority of clients however are much closer to home in Bellevue, Medina and Seattle.
Born and raised in Liverpool, England, Jon brings to the venture a very sound education from two of England’s most prestigious horticultural colleges, in addition to a Masters Degree in Environmental Planning. In an earlier role as a commercial plant propagator and grower in Cheshire, England Jon produced plants that won two consecutive Gold Medals at the world renowned Chelsea Flower Show in the mid 1980’s. Jon has a unique set of skills that enable him to harmoniously unite the built environment with the plant world. He is a firm believer in “responsive environments” and all of his gardens flow from this concept. Jon has an extensive theoretical and practical working knowledge of plants, their habitats, strengths and limitations when used to enhance and complement the built environment.
Born and raised on the East Coast, Peter is a landscaping professional and has been designing and installing gardens throughout the Seattle area since 2010. In particular, Peter’s emphasis is on gardens with year-round interest. He was awarded an Honors’ Degree in Landscape Design from South Seattle College in 2009, where he subsequently instructed plant identification classes. When he’s not out in the garden, Peter enjoys cooking, traveling, and exploring the local arts scene. Peter lives in North Seattle with his wife Stephanie and family.
